After independence and the merger of the Holkar Kingdom with India, the Khasgi trust was created “for maintenance, upkeep and preservation of charities and religious endowments provided in the budget of the Holkar State.”

The Khasgi trust maintains all the monuments built by the Holkar Rulers including those by Devi Ahilyabai all over India. In Indore the undermentioned monuments are worth seeing
Indore
Martand Devsthan, constructed in 1832, is the ancestral deity of the Holkar rulers. Located near the Rajwada, it is easily accessible. Although destroyed in the 1984 riots, it was rebuilt by Maharani Usha Devi, President of the Khasgi trust. The temple features intricately carved wooden pillars, a central courtyard, a serene garden, and space for the family deity. It is worth a visit.

Holkars’ Gallery Indore
This is located on the First Floor of Martand Devsthan. This was created in 2017, with an aim to depict the History of the city ; Indore in a simplistic manner, to a visitor. Here, one would also find many artefacts, swords, rifles , utencils used by the Holkar rulers. There is also a Room where rare photographs are displayed
